Villager of the Year for 2024/25 was awarded to Rob Venn, a very worthy recipient.
The award is presented to those that go above and beyond and demonstrate an exemplary community effort. We received input from within the parish and beyond when asking for nominees this year and Rob was the obvious candidate.
Stanbridge & Tilsworth Community Hall is a wonderful asset for both villages and Rob has spent many years, decades in fact, supporting the project. A basic grass recreation ground has been transformed into the hall and the facilities that exist today. It has taken a dedicated team of volunteers to get to this point and Rob spearheaded the effort for Tilsworth.
Many of us will remember waiting at the bus stops, dressed in our finest, ready to attend the fundraising events and also the events in the recreation ground with a bar set up in one of the huts.
So many events, so many raffles, so many work parties. So much hard work, and Rob was always at the heart of it.
Always a presence at every event. A brilliant compere and very skilled at parting us with our money. Always on hand when there was work to be done.
Having been involved from day one, Rob has finally, within the last few weeks decided to step back from the hardworking hall committee and it is a very fitting time to award Villager of the Year to Rob and to say thank you from Tilsworth for all of your dedication and hard work.
